About Me:
I dream of making a living selling art. If I did, I could spend more time creating art and improving my skills as an artist. I have so much to learn, so many visions and ideas to share! I am thrilled to go on this new learning experience and to share my art with others.
When planning a photograph, I often romanticize the scene in front of me, seeing it with perfect lighting, perfect contrast, perfect saturation of color - I am surprised the camera does not agree! It does not have the imagination I project onto the realistic scene. Sometimes the conditions are actually perfect. Sometimes, I can make adjustments with the camera to record improved light or contrast. I take lots of photographs. Some of them are artistic winners. Some I keep to refer to in creating drawings and paintings.
I hear artists are supposed to have a specific style, so the viewers of our art immediately recognize what is ours. Experimenting is important to me. I am still learning. Holding down a job and taking on the normal adult duties one needs to do, leaves so little time for learning. Maybe one day I could be a great artist. I will keep trying.
So many artists have personal opinions about what is and isn’t art, about how art is to be made. I feel art is about interpretation, communication, and expressing one's self in a way that is meaningful ; meaningful to the artist, and hopefully the viewers.
I find objects and scenes that are visually interesting to me. I think the world needs nice things around them in their environment to help them feel positive about their situation. I like to find those nice things in my everyday situations and in my little adventures. I then capture images or create images to present to others. If you take the time to look around you, you too might find little treasures for your eyes and your sense of well being.
I am a daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, teacher, and artist. I love to have new experiences, see new places, hike along creeks, streams, and rivers, read, photograph, and paint. I enjoyed printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture in college. I long to get better versed in those media. I have a BFA and an MAT. I worked hard to get where I am, but my dream is to spend more time as an ARTIST.
About The Shop
The artwork is printed on Archival Artists’ Paper. I currently am selling photographs and prints. In the future I will sell original works of art in frames, often custom made by me and my husband. He is much better than me at cutting the wood. When I can, I try to size the photographs and prints to fit in a standard frame. Here is a site that provides standard frame, mat, and print sizes:
